English Department

Mr. Dave Mr. Dave earned a Master’s Degree in English from Cal State Long Beach. Mr. Dave also has a Bachelor’s Degree in Fine Arts in Theater from UCLA and an Associate’s in General Studies from Cerritos College with an emphasis in Theater Arts, Film, and Writing. Mr. Dave has 15 years of experience teaching English Language Arts in public middle and high schools. His experience consists of teaching accelerated critical reading and analysis, rhetoric and expository composition, public speaking, and presentation to remedial and advanced/gifted students. He also has experience teaching Biology, Earth Science, and Drama. His emphasis in teaching has been to help students write stronger and more effective persuasive, research-based essays and narrative stories that include clear description and beats. He assists students with developing thesis papers with specific claims, evidence, and reasonings in a properly structured form. For the past decade and a half, he has optimized student growth in academics by differentiating instruction based upon each students’ learning style and needs. Mr. Dave believes in implementing inclusion for all cultures within his lessons and has a great respect for diversity.

Mr. Anthony Mr. Anthony graduated from Rutgers University with a Bachelor of Arts in English Literature. He went on to study at Long Island University in Brooklyn, New York and graduated with a Master of Science in Education. He earned his New York State English Language Arts 6-12 teaching certificate at the same time. Mr. Anthony later graduated from Endicott College with an M.Ed. in Educational Leadership. He is currently enrolled in Arizona State University’s doctorate program in Innovation and Leadership in Education. Read more

Mr. Anthony believes that all children have a passion for learning and that it is the educator’s responsibility to create learning experiences which help their students discover and develop their passions and interests.  Mr. Anthony’s experience in education is drawn from an international career which has spanned three different countries and several different curriculums and approaches to teaching and learning.  After teaching English in the New York City public school system, Mr. Anthony made a big move to Asia where he taught high school English. He worked with students who gained acceptance into the top 3 universities as well as MIT and CalTech. Mr. Anthony then moved to Vietnam where he lived for 10 years and worked in international schools as a teacher, head of department, principal, as well as a head of school. An avid learner, Mr. Anthony has completed and participated in several professional development courses with Harvard Graduate School of Education, Cambridge Assessment International, Oxford University Press, and Pearson Learning. He has conducted professional development courses on school leadership, emotional intelligence in the classroom, active learning and critical thinking, integrating technology in the classroom, lesson planning, and classroom management.  He was also a guest speaker at the 2020 APAC Region International Schools Conference.  Mr. Anthony also has experience working as an education consultant for parents and for several independent and international school projects. 


Ms. Melanie Ms. Melanie graduated from University of California, Long Beach with a Bachelor of Arts in Liberal Studies (Multiple-subject education). She earned her Multiple- Subject Teaching Credential at California State University, Long Beach as well. Read more

Ms. Melanie is passionate about student success and believes that through engaging, student-centered, and specialized teaching, your child will be set up for success not only academically, but socially and emotionally as well, with years of experience working at pre-k, elementary, middle, and high school levels. Ms. Melanie’s experience includes professional tutoring from elementary to high school levels which has prepared her to break down complex material in a simple and engaging way for individual and small groups of students. During her time teaching at public and private schools, she taught multiple-subject education from every grade between pre-k and sixth grade where she learned the importance of incorporating student interest in her lesson- planning. Ms. Melanie centers her teaching around your individual child and focuses on higher- order thinking, creativity, and critical thinking in her teaching.

Ms. Rachel Ms. Rachel graduated cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Liberal Studies and went on to earn her Multiple-Subject Teaching Credential with a Reading and Language Arts Emphasis both from California State University, Long Beach. She continued her professional development, taking virtual teaching courses through UCI and ASU. Read more

She is the product of the renowned ABCUSD in Cerritos, completing her elementary through high school education at their schools. After receiving her credential, she began her teaching career there, initially in a 3rd grade classroom, then moving up to 8th grade. Her passion for education did not stop within the walls of her classrooms. She moved forward in making her impact with individual children as a private tutor, both in-person and virtually. She is very experienced in test preparation, like SBAC, SSAT, ISEE, SCAT, SAT, ACT and TOEFL. She is a dedicated and caring educator who is committed to providing innovative, engaging, and conscientious lessons to all of her students.

Ms. Jenna Ms. Jenna has been an educator in California for over 12 years. She is very excited to return to iLearn Education, where she has taught Critical Reading Classes, Novel Study Classes, and other English courses. She holds a degree in Theater Arts with an emphasis in Acting and Education from UCLA, and has earned her California teaching credentials in English (Grades 6-12) and Multiple Subjects (Grades K-8). Ms. Jenna has worked in public, private, and charter schools, in grades K-12. She has also worked as a mentor teacher, providing guidance, support and practical educational facilitation for new teachers. Ms. Jenna is a passionate and enthusiastic educator, who prides herself on creating engaging academic opportunities based upon student’s abilities and learning needs. When not teaching in iLearn’s classrooms, Ms. Jenna works one-on-one with students in Kindergarten-9th Grade on skills ranging from phonics to advanced literary analysis. She loves working with her students, and treasures the exciting moments when students who were previously struggling with a concept are able to achieve a new academic milestone and successfully show mastery of a difficult skill. She looks forward to continuing her work with students at iLearn Education, and helping them excel in English Language Arts! 

Ms. Jamie Ms. Jamie graduated from the University of California, Irvine with a Bachelor of Arts in Literary Journalism. She earned her Associate of Arts degree in Communications from Diablo Valley College, as well. Read more

Ms. Jamie is driven by her determination to provide all children the proper resources and tools that they need in order to succeed. She believes that being inclusive and allowing children to be comfortable in a teaching environment is key to giving them a positive learning experience. Ms. Jamie’s teaching experience includes being a private tutor and teacher to elementary to middle school levels which has prepared her for engaging one-on-one teaching as well as leading small groups through fun lessons. During her time teaching at elementary schools, she has taught reading, writing, and english to children from Kindergarten to 6th grade. Ms. Jamie incorporates positive reinforcement and caters to the learning style that works best for your child while building their creativity and critical-thinking skills.

Mr. Kevin Mr. Kevin graduated from Occidental College with a B.A in history and Eastern Asian Studies. He is currently working on a graduate degree in International Relations at Renmin University. Read more

Mr. Kevin is currently an English/Social study /Test Prep teacher in a local private school in Irvine, California. He has worked as the History Peer advisor at Occidental College where he advised students on advanced historical materials. Besides his work as a Peer Advisor, Mr. Kevin has six years of experience teaching advanced writing, humanities, and ESL to elementary, middle  high school and college students in Los Angeles. Mr. Kevin is interested in educational work due to his goal of wanting to be a professor of English language arts and history, and employs the socratic method in order to guide students to the answer rather than just telling them the answer. He centers his teaching around your individual child and focuses on higher- order thinking, creativity, and critical thinking in his teaching.

Ms. Esther s. Esther graduated from University of California, Irvine with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and minor in Education. She received her Master of Arts in Education from UCI as well and also holds a supplemental credential in music instruction as well certifications in GATE, CLAD, and is a level 1 Google Instructor. Ms. Esther is currently a full time public school  teacher in Irvine. Prior that, she had taught for twelve years at Tarbut V’ Torah (TVT) a private Jewish Day school in Irvine, California. While she taught mostly at fifth grade, she has also taught grades spanning first through eighth grade. Prior to teaching at TVT, she moved back from Northern California (Bay Area) where she was a dual immersion Mandarin and English teacher for 2nd grade.  Through her experience in working in both private and public school systems, she developed her own methods of teaching reading, writing, and advanced math. She  looks forward to partnering with families at iLearn to push students in unlocking their pull potential as adaptable scholars and learners.

Leadership Department

Mr. William Mr. William has a Bachelors Degree in Political Science, with a Minor in History from CSU Long Beach, as well as a Masters in Religious Studies from Liberty University. Mr. William holds Single Subject Teaching licenses in both Speech and Social Science in California.   Read more

As a member of the Santiago Canyon Speech and Debate Team, he won the 2007 National Championships in Extemporaneous Speaking and Parliamentary Debate, as well as the California State Championship in Impromptu Speaking. He was honored to represent American Debate students at an International World’s Debate Competition in China in May of 2017. He grew up participating in Speech and Debate in the Orange County and Los Angeles areas, and after a successful career at Long Beach State, he became a Middle and High School Coach in Chowchilla, California, and has been a teacher for over 7 years. In 2017, he coached the Middle School National Champion in Informative Speaking. As a High School coach, he was named by the California High School Speech Association as the 2017-2018 Rookie Coach of the Year, and served two years on the state curriculum committee helping write materials for Speech and Debate classes statewide. He was also honored by the Fresno NBC affiliate KSEE 224 News as the Educator of the Week in September of 2017.

Ms. Wendy Ms. Wendy graduated from Rio Hondo College and earned her AA degree in Liberal Studies. Following the completion of her Associates degree, she transferred to the California State University of Long Beach, and earned her Bachelor degree in the Study of Communications. Read more

Ms. Wendy has 10 years of public school teaching experience in English and math, working with elementary students ranging from Pre K- 6th grade. She also worked as a private tutor, which specialized in English, Math Algebra 2, and Calculus. It continued through the time she spent working in the Norwalk and La Mirada School District. In collaboration with parents, students and staff, she seeks the mission to develop in all students the knowledge, understanding, skills and attitudes to empower them to become life-long learners and productive citizens in an ever changing world. Her plan to accomplish this, will be in a climate that promotes high expectations, strives to meet individuals needs and values diversity. Ms. Wendy focuses on creating an atmosphere where students are encouraged to become skilled critical thinkers, work collaboratively, focus on rigorous data-driven instruction, enrichment and small group activities, critical inquiry and the exposure to higher education through the use of current and emerging technologies.

Mr. Sam Mr. Sam graduated from Point Loma Nazarene University, where he majored in Political Science during his college career. Mr. Sam has been a member of the school debate team since Servite High School. In college he was a member of the top debate team and chaired the debate team. Read more

Mr. Sam has coached the debate team for many years in his teaching career. In addition to his time in college, he served as Assistant Director of the Debate Department at Grand Canyon University. Mr. Sam has experience in many debate competitions, including: Congress, IPDA, Public Forum, Parliamentary, and LD, etc. He has K-12 experience teaching introductory and advanced debate and public speaking courses. He also teaches online classes in South Korea for students in grades 3-5 to improve their debating skills and English. Mr. Sam has coached debate teams for elementary, middle and high school students and brings a wealth of competitive coaching experience. He believes the biggest skills students can learn from debating are confidence, critical thinking and leadership.


Math Department

Ms. Lauren Ms. Lauren grew up in Orange County and graduated from California State University, Fullerton (CSUF), earning her Bachelor of Liberal Studies Degree and a Teaching Credential in Foundational-Level Mathematics. Read more

After teaching Common Core Mathematics at a Los Angeles middle school for three years, she now has over ten years of experience tutoring and helping students of all age groups. She believes that every child is capable of learning and focuses on individual growth. She loves working with kids and is passionate about teaching Math. Her strengths include building meaningful relationships with students and parents, creating a positive learning environment, and making math much easier to understand by connecting concepts to the real world.


Ms. Emily Ms. Emily received her Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education from Montana State University, and a Masters Degree in Math Education from Western Governors University. She has a Multiple Subject Teaching Credential for grades K-9th, and she specializes in Math Education for Grades 5th-9th.  Read more

Ms. Emily has been a public school classroom teacher for over 6 years, with 4 of those years specializing as a Middle School Math teacher. She is an experienced Math content writer with a passion for STEM education. Ms. Emily enjoys presenting and teaching Math content in a way that is engaging and memorable. She loves working with curious students, and helping them build confidence in their academic abilities. Ms. Emily is skilled at delivering difficult Math content in a way that is easily understood by learners of all abilities.

Science & Robotics Department

Mr. Tibor Mr. Tibor graduated from California State University, East Bay with two Bachelor of Science degrees in physics and mathematics. Being a double major in quantitative and applied sciences allowed him to become highly proficient in problem-solving. Mr. Tibor also attended the physics program at The University of California, Irvine for a couple of years. Read more

At UCI, Mr. Tibor was a Teaching Assistant and held his own physics discussion and lab courses. He worked with students individually and in large groups to ensure their success. Mr. Tibor also worked as a private tutor for college and high school students. He believes that every student can be successful no matter how difficult the subject is, so he strives to help his students gain the skills, knowledge, and most importantly the confidence to be able to quantitatively think through problems. Mr. Tibor is passionate about children’s success and well-being, so he makes sure that they have a conceptual understanding of what they are doing. He also makes it enjoyable for the students by relating lessons to their own personal interests.

Mr. Jesus Mr. Jesus graduated from California State University, Fullerton where he earned his Bachelor of Science in Biological Science, with a concentration in Molecular Biology and Biotechnology, and two minors in Mathematics and Chemistry. Read more

Mr. Jesus has been an educator for the past ten years for students of all ages for a variety of academic subjects. Being a Supplemental Instructor Leader for Biology and Organic Chemistry and the Head Math Tutor at the Math department at CSUF, he has a lot of experience in Math and Science. Mr. Jesus is also knowledgeable in Robotics, Coding, and Physics. Having taught/ tutored for these subjects for over a year now he has worked using VEX, LEGO Robotics, Wonder Workshop and Botball. He can also program using different languages such as, C, C#, C++, Python. Java, Scratch, and Microsoft MakeCode.
